Dance along to Beyonce and MJ at this year's Christmas party.

Wednesday 28th October, 2009.

On Tuesday nights, I go to dance classes! They're much more fun than normal aerobics and they really help you de-stress after a hard day because you've got to concentrate too much for your mind to wander back to your desk or email.

The reason you've got to concentrate so hard (or I have anyway) is because we're currently learning a routine to Beyonce's "All the single ladies (put a ring on it)". And if you've seen the video, you'll know that is a serious dance! The video on YouTube is amazing with Beyonce and 2 other girls doing an immaculate routine, but now I've seen our dance teacher repeat it up close, and really noticed all the little moves she's put in to make it as detailed, it's amazing! (Our version is slightly different as there were parts she wasn't so keen on in the original. And we are only an intermediate class anyway!)

So anyway, on Tuesday I was bopping away to Beyonce in the studio (or gyrating might be a more apt description of the dance!) and everyone was talking about how they'll probably end up embarrassing themselves trying to do it at their Work's Christmas party! And that reminded me that the last dance we did - Michael Jackson's classic Billie Jean - has already been played at 2 weddings I've been to since we started that routine. And yes - I did the dance! Or what little I could remember.

So I highly recommend if you're looking for some party music for your office Christmas party, or you're putting together a play list for your DJ, don't forget Beyonce and Michael Jackson! Make sure your "Now that's what I call Music" CD collection is up to date (but make sure you've got some oldies in there too!) and if you want to do a party set, don't forget the Whigfield, Steps (5,6,7,8!) and Macarena!
